Learn the Kick-Ball-Change

 "kick-ball-change"

This is a Carolina Shag Step

Level: Beginner

Beats: 6

Steps: Brush / Step / Step / Brush / Step / Step / Rock Step

The Kick-Ball-Change in Carolina Shag is a versatile two-count figure often used in place of a triple step within the six-count basic rhythm. It involves a stylistic 'brush' of the foot forward at approximately a 45-degree angle, which can contribute to a subtle hip twist. This is followed by stepping onto the ball of the brushing foot, transferring weight, and then stepping forward (or slightly in place) with the other foot, completing the weight transfer. Notably, the Kick-Ball-Change can be linked together in sequences of three or more to create a smooth and continuous traveling movement along the line of dance, showcasing its adaptability within the flow of Carolina Shag.

Additional Notes: Use to replace any triple step in the Carolina Shag basic pattern.
