Growing Our Dance Home: An Exciting New Step for Our Community

When Denise and I first put our shoes on the floor with this collective, our focus was simple: build a welcoming "third place" where couples and singles across our region could unplug, connect through rhythm, and discover the pure joy of Carolina Shag and swing dancing.

Thanks to the energy, trust, and commitment every single one of you brings to the dance floor each week, our community has grown beyond anything we could have imagined.

To ensure that this community continues to thrive for years to come, we have taken an important step behind the scenes: Underhill's Swing and Shag Dance Collective is now officially established as an independent LLC.

Along with our formal legal organization, we are proud to introduce our updated official mark:

Our new circular seal reflects exactly who we are: grounded partner connection, classic 6-count cadence, and an enduring commitment to cultivating community through movement. While our legal structure is formalized to support expanded programming and regional workshops, our core mission remains unchanged:

  • Friendly, accessible partner dance instruction where no partner is required.

  • Focus on music, timing, and social flow.

  • A supportive floor where everyone belongs from their very first basic step.

Thank you for being the heart and soul of this journey. Lace up your dance shoes—we’ll see you on the floor!

Roger & Denise Underhill
